What does this piece of poetry mean to you?

To me it means what it is, because I know about Sylvia Plath's life and work. Maybe if I did not know the facts, it would still mean the same, who knows... But as it is, I could write an essay on this poem, trying to describe how a young delicate girl feels locked up in a mental institution after a suicide attempt. Of course she wouldn't ask anything of life. I'm a great admirer of Plath and this is one of her best poems. Maybe she isn't always at her best and her talent doesn't show, but her tortured life was not a fraud. She suffered as a misfit and it was genuine.
